The Gilt Cellars
Brick, tally marks and a barred gate: the first ten floors, where the Tallyman keeps the books. All of it is free.
The ten floors
Each floor here has 3 fights, mostly against two enemies on floors 1 to 3 and three after that, and then a room. Health and armor are full again at the start of every fight.
| Floor | Fights | Last fight | Room after | Enemy health | Enemy attack |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | Normal | Merchant | 9 | 2 |
| 2 | 3 | Normal | Merchant | 13 | 3 |
| 3 | 3 | Normal | Chest, shrine or forge | 18 | 3 |
| 4 | 3 | Normal | Merchant | 25 | 5 |
| 5 | 3 | Elite | Merchant | 35 | 6 |
| 6 | 3 | Normal | Chest, shrine or forge | 48 | 8 |
| 7 | 3 | Normal | Merchant | 68 | 11 |
| 8 | 3 | Normal | Merchant | 95 | 15 |
| 9 | 3 | Elite, half the time | Chest, shrine or forge | 133 | 20 |
| 10 | 3 | Boss | Altar | 186 | 26 |
Enemy health and attack are the floor's standard enemy; each kind is a multiple of it (see the bestiary and the floor table). The chest, the shrine and the forge fall on floors 3, 6 and 9 in an order that changes each run.
Forked stairs
After some floors the stair forks and you pick one of two rooms. In each depth two of floors 4, 5, 7 and 8 offer a Warden beside the merchant, one more floor offers a chest beside the merchant, and floors 3, 6 and 9 offer a merchant beside their special room. A guided first run has no forks.
Enemies
The boss is The Tallyman on floor 10. The elite, Coin Mimic, is the last fight of floor 5 and, half the time, of floor 9.
The Tally
Entering floor 1 posts this depth's Tally: 62
gold, to be paid at a merchant before floor 10. Paid in full it pays you back in gems: 3 on floors 1 to 3, 2 on floors 4 to 6, 1 after that. Unpaid, The Tallyman fights up to 40% stronger. A guided first run has no Tally in this depth.
Loot
What rarity a drop or an offer rolls depends on the floor. Chests, elites and (below the first depth) the merchant roll one step higher.
| Floors | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Free to play
The Gilt Cellars are the free game: all ten floors, the Tallyman and his altar, as often as you like. The stair to floor 11 is sealed until the full game is unlocked, and a run that reaches it can carry on the moment it is.
