Forge orders and the Forge Book
Each depth, the Gilt Forge asks for two pieces of one set and a few gems. Bring them and it makes a unique you keep for good.
An order
As each depth begins, the forge posts an order for one of that depth's uniques that is not in your Forge Book yet: "Forge order:" and its name. It asks for:
- 2 pieces of one set: a set you have reached by that depth and unlocked. Any rarity, carried or worn.
- Gems: 2, 3, 4 in the first, second and third depth.
A chip at the head of the set row counts what you hold ("ORDER 1/2") and turns green once the order can be filled. Tap it for the order's card: the unique and its effect, a socket for each piece it asks, holding the one it would take now, and its gems. "Fill it at a Gilt Forge (floor 9). Merchants sell its pieces at half price."
Filling it
The depth's forge stands on floor 9, the last room before its boss. "Forge it" takes the pieces, from your bag first and then what you wear, the cheapest first, and the gems, and makes the unique:
| Depth | Made at |
|---|---|
| The Gilt Cellars | Rare, or the best piece's rarity if higher |
| The Drowned Reliquary | Epic, or the best piece's rarity if higher |
| The Hoard Heart | Legendary, or the best piece's rarity if higher |
It goes into the Forge Book at once: "Kept for good once forged, even if you die after." Filling an order does not use the forge's one temper. An order still open after floor 9 can be filled at any later forge of the run.
No run comes up blank
- The merchant helps. While an order is open he sells every piece it still wants at half price, marked with an anvil, and if none of his gear is of its set, one plain piece is a Common of that set you don't hold yet. See the merchant.
- A missed order comes back. One a run leaves unfilled is posted again in your next run, asking one piece fewer: "Missed last time: it asks one piece fewer."
- A depth with nothing left to ask for, every one of its uniques in your Book, posts no order.
Forge work sells for 1 gold, merged or split: two half-price pieces and a few gems should not sell as a fortune.
The Forge Book
The Book keeps every unique you have forged: 30 can be kept in all. The Codex's Uniques tab lists it beside the treasures, with each piece's marks and what making it again costs, and the end screen shows a FORGE BOOK cell for each piece a run forged.
Making a piece again
In later runs any forge can make one Book piece again, if the piece is from that forge's depth or an earlier one. "Remake" takes one piece of gear of the same slot, bag first and the cheapest, and gems: 4, one fewer for each mark, never under 1. It is made at the same rarity an order's would be. One remake per forge, beside the temper.
A mark is a depth you have worn the piece through: wear it as you clear floor 10, 20 or 30 and it keeps the deepest. "Each depth you wear it through takes a gem off."
Which runs
Runs of your own only. A Daily Descent, the Season Descent, a seed-code run and the guided first descent post no orders and can't use the Book. A won run that used the Book still counts on the board: the board's replay plays it with the same Book.
