Guard the hoard.
Set bonuses
Wear 2, 3 or 5 Kingsguard pieces and each tier below switches on. They add up: at five pieces you have all three.

armor, +20%

gold. - 5Once per battle, when your armor breaks, pay 10% of your gold to restore it fully.
The fine print
- 3 pieces. You gain 1 armor for every 25 gold you carry (4% of your gold, rounded down). Spending gold lowers it at once.
- 5 pieces. Once per battle, the moment your armor is broken you pay 10% of your gold and all of it comes back.
How it plays
The game's own set card sums Kingsguard up in three lines:
Armor grows with the gold you carry.
- Strong against: Heavy physical hits.
- Weak against: Arcane hits, thieves, spending.
The set stat
Every Kingsguard piece has one stat, its set stat, that is multiplied by how many Kingsguard pieces you wear. Two pieces double each one's set stat, five pieces count it five times. That is why a third and fourth piece are worth more than their own numbers suggest. See how sets work.

Nine pieces: one for each of the seven slots, a second weapon and a second ring (you wear two rings). Stats shown are Common, found on floor 21.

Synergies
Two pieces of Kingsguard with two pieces of another set wake a synergy:
- Dragonhoard with Wyrmscale: Fire breath also restores armor equal to 5% of your gold.
Finding it
Kingsguard pieces appear from floor 21 on, in The Hoard Heart and below, which is part of the full game. Loot leans toward the sets you already wear: each Kingsguard piece on you makes the next one more likely, and while you wear two or more the floor market and the merchant offer a piece you are missing. Kingsguard starts locked: its pieces appear once you have won 12 battles while wearing two or more Wyrmscale pieces.
