How sets work

Matching pieces beat better pieces. A set pays twice: bonuses at 2, 3 and 5 pieces, and a multiplier on every piece.

Bonuses at 2, 3 and 5

Each of the 22 sets has three bonuses that switch on as you wear more of its nine pieces. They add up: at five pieces all three are on. You wear eight pieces in all, so a full build is usually five of one set and three of another, or a five, a two and a unique.

The set stat

Every set piece has one stat marked as its set stat, and that number is multiplied by how many pieces of its set you wear. The card puts it in words: "Wear 2 Emberforged: 2x its power." With five pieces on, each one's set stat counts five times.

Two things follow. A third and a fourth piece are worth far more than their own numbers, because they raise every other piece too. And taking a piece off costs more than it shows: the card's "WITHOUT IT" line counts it for you.

A piece's set stat is its first stat that is a size, never a count: strikes and mana are never multiplied.

Reading your sets

Under your hero's bars sits a chip for each set you wear: its colour, three letters and a count, such as "EMB 2/3": two worn, next bonus at three. Tap a chip for the set's card, and its pieces glow on your board and in the market while the card is open. A tile shows its set as two letters in the set's colour, and an offer that would take you to two or more of a set adds "x2", "x3".

Synergies and locked sets

Two pieces each of two partner sets wake a synergy. Seven sets start locked and open by winning battles in their partner set.
